Hummus Recipe (without the Gas)

Raw Hummus VV

Who loves eating hummus? I don’t know about you, but I absolutely love it.  I avoid hummus if I have an important occasion the next day because it makes me really bloated. As many of you know, I eat a mainly raw food diet – so I got excited when I stumbled across this gem of a recipe.  It’s 100% raw and believe it or not, it actually tastes like hummus minus the gas! Ha ha! And yes, it tastes delicious.

I recommend you give it a go. Best of all, no cooking involved! Please let me know if you make it. Oh, and apologies for the blurred photo. Instagram doesn’t rate high in clarity.

NO-BEAN HUMMUS

Serves 3-4

A THICK, bean-less raw hummus made with zucchini and raw sesame tahini.

2 zucchini, peeled and chopped

3/4 cup raw tahini

1/2 cup fresh lemon juice

1/4 cup olive oil

4 cloves garlic, peeled (obviously! who eats the skin?)

2 1/2 teaspoons sea salt

1/2 tablespoon ground cumin

IN A HIGH-SPEED BLENDER, combine all of the ingredients and blend until thick and smooth.

Serve with slices of cucumber, zucchini, celery sticks, carrot sticks or rice cakes. It’s your meal, be creative and daring as you like.

Recipe taken from: Matt Amsden’s Rawvolution book.

  1. Question says:

Is that a 1/4 cup or a 1/4 tablespoon of olive oil?

I wanna try this out! I also get very bloated and puffy eating hummus. IT makes me retain so much water that I can literally pick up 5 pounds of water weight overnight! I actually ate hummus last night and woke up looking like a bee stung me! It’s irritating because who the hell wants to look like some snowman.

    Will try this out. THanks.

Wow, it looks just like traditional hummus! Very clever – thanks for sharing.
